Like the LG G5, the HTC 10 reverses the image for selfies. Colours are washed out and the default beauty mode gives a plastic look to faces. Some may like this, but we’d always turn it off.

The S7’s selfie has the widest field of view of all the phones we tested. It’s also one of the best photos: loads of sharp detail and well exposed. Rememer to turn off the beauty mode if you don’t want to have a plastic face, though.

The Mi 5 has quite a narrow field of view from it’s front camera. Detail is soft, possibly due to heavy-handed noise reduction.

With it’s nice wide-angle lens the Z5 can fit in several people at arm’s length. However, the image is soft at the edges and detail levels are below what we’d expect. It’s also a bit underexposed.
